A ~ Z of Marvelousness: P is for Pomegranate

Pomegranate

  • One of the most beautiful fruits out there!
  • It is traditional in Greece to break a pomegranate on the ground at weddings and on New Years.
  • Apparently the pomegranate has 613 seeds.
  • I like the marvelous pomegranate seeds in a Pear and Blue Cheese Salad.

  1. My mother would treat us to these when we were children. Sadly, I did not see them in stores on a regular basis until recently, so I never bought them for my children. I still remember the red fingers I had after eating them.

  2. What an awesome picture. I would really never think fruit could be so pretty, but it is. Why do they break one on the ground at a wedding? What's the reason/tradition of it?
